MD80 Procedures
In order to prevent air interruptions the following procedures will go into effect immediately.
Air Conditioning
Packs
Are limited to one day of operation. If the pack is placarded late in the flying day, it may continue until the following overnight. It will be routed to a class I city and made a NFNF. The NFNF is not to be released unless unusual circumstances occur. If an unusual circumstance should develop, my concurrence is required prior to any release of an NFNF on this item.
Engine Driven
Generators
Exact same policy as packs. Limited to one flying day. Assigned NFNF at a Class I city.
Dual Pressurization
System
At least one auto pressurization system must be operable to depart DFW, ORD, or LGA.
Smoke in the Cabin
If an aircraft has a pirep of visible smoke in the cabin and the problem is not external to the air-conditioning system, I.E. oven, coffeemaker, or other electrical component, the aircraft shall not be released until a TUL Technical Specialist has been dispatched to the aircraft and confirmed the source of the leak, assisted in the repair, and verified a proper pack burnout has been accomplished. The aircraft must then have a FCF at MAX PWR takeoff to confirm the repair.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about this policy.
